Out and About: Catalina Island

I'll start by saying, I've been a bad blogger. It's been several months since my last post, but I am back for good! Let's just think of it as an extended summer vacation, and I won't bore you with excuses.

It may be October, but the weather is far from showing any signs of fall here in LA. This past weekend, we spent a day at Catalina Island. It was my second visit (the first was during my Senior trip in 2004), and from the moment we stepped out of the ferry I wondered why we hadn't made a trip sooner. At first glance, the island is reminiscent of an Italian city, much like Capri, with the white buildings and tropical pops of color. It's hard to believe that this little oasis is 26 miles from home, but there's always another ferry available to take in the future.

Sally Sells Seashells

I dream of the days when I can escape to a beach house oasis. My getaways will be filled with sand between my toes, fish fry's for meals, and margarita sipping during sunset. I'll admire the ocean from afar (swimming isn't my thing) and bask in the sun (with the proper SPF of course). Until that wish comes to fruition, a little seashell decor inches me a little closer. At the very least, a touch of the beach will be a welcome change to my humble apartment with some pearl shell place mats and a couple decorative sand dollar pillows.

Seasonal Snapshots

It goes without saying that the grass is always greener on the other side. Just when the chill of winter breezes in, I'm secretly wishing for spring to arrive a.s.a.p. Little delights like these are just a few of the reasons I'll never get sick of the season, well...at least until it gets blistering hot.
