Love for Anthro

Today's trip to Anthropologie got me giddy with excitement as I searched through all the home decor and clothing. The appeal to me is the vintage aesthetic that emanates throughout like an ideal flea market of treasures. From the bins of little knobs to a delicately textured pea-coat, I'm in love with it all. The crossover from home to wardrobe is seamless and these items are no exception in their apparent similarities.

Home Surroundings

Over the weekend, I stayed mainly at home which gave me a chance to admire the little nooks and details around me. I love making simple change-ups on a mantle, setting aside pieces I want to wear during the week, and having my reading books all set by the bed. I'm a true believer that your home reflects your sense of style. Just as your fashion tendencies are a constant evolution, home decorating can be a similar process. With a "never quite complete" attitude, it's exciting to always be on the brink of that newest find or decorating tweak. From a new couch (a desperate need in my place) to a bold table accessory, I'm definitely on the lookout for pieces to put together my own apartment decorating puzzle. If These Walls Could Talk

There's nothing worse than having a blank wall void of any inspiration. While I always love a collage of framed photos (mine is still a work in process), decals are a simpler way to add dimension and attention to a space. When I first stumbled upon Paristic, I was impressed by their endless options from corner stickers for a cozy feel to tall pillars for height. I love how, even with stark white walls, these spaces are instantly transformed. Oh, and how great is the staircase leading your eye into a non-existent nook?!

Goodwill Ambassador

Looking around my home, there's a story behind most of the items lying around. Whether they were gifted, thrifted or traditionally bought, I love collecting useful, interesting items that mix modern with an eclectic touch. After each visit to my local Goodwill, 9 times out of 10 there's an item I can't pass up. Whether it's a classic addition to game night or a spinning globe to track new destination, my rooms are constantly incorporating pieces collected over time.

Bringing Cubby Back

We were all introduced to cubbies in elementary, those little squares that we called our own. Stuffed to the brim and labeled with our name, it held all our childhood necessities like lunchboxes, nap time blankets, and Velcro tie shoes. It was a simple way to keep items in the right place, and instantly we learned about organization. It would be years before we incorporated that word into our vocabulary or even fully understood its meaning, and thank goodness for that. Ignorance is bliss.

In my own home, my entry way nook has wicker baskets for shoes and magazine files for incoming and outgoing mail. They're simple storage ideas that have helped my clutter stay where it should be. Besides, there's something nostalgic about having my own cubby... once again.
