As the Sun Goes Down

Photobucket

For the past week, I've been trying to shift my outfit choices into the Fall season. Since Mother Nature isn't quite cooperating, my only realistic option is throwing on a jacket towards the end of the day as it cools down. With the simplest of outfits, I love to add-on vintage jewels and a unique bag for a little added touch of sparkle and texture.

Sticks&Stones

2

First off, Happy New Year! It's hard to believe that the holiday season is over. The pine scent from the Christmas tree is gone, my vacation is over in mere hours, but I'm determined to make the most of this year, a sentiment I think we all share. I'm so grateful for all of you who continually visit my little piece of the blogosphere. So thanks :) Let the outfit photos commence.

Seasonal Mix

It's a strange thing when the weather constantly changes day by day (instead of by season). Each morning a quick weather check is required at an open door, a habit I've gotten quite used to. The mash-up of summer weather (shorts) and fall fashion (tights, blazer & boots) made for this finished look. The cream tights and vintage blazer share the same herringbone pattern, and I was more than pleased with the tiny coincidence as I sat among the leaves.

Shades of Grey

2

These winter days transform far too soon into dark nights with the daylight savings time. It's hard to believe that November is coming to a close, and Christmas is quickly approaching. This monochromatic outfit seems to take note from the sudden grey skies, and debuts my latest addition to my sweater collection. The skirt and shirt might look familiar since they were featured in my very first outfit post. By adding a sweater and some tights, it's a fresh, fall take on some closet oldie's.

Fall's Firsts

Photobucket

These rainy and chilly days have finally given me a chance to pull out my preliminary fall finds. Having sat in the closet for over a month, this royal blue military coat got it's first use yesterday (right after I removed the tags). The brass buttons, fun floral lining, and flap pockets are a few details that will have me throwing this on day after day. Styled with a ruffled blouse and boots, I love the contrast of femininity and boyish charm that went along with the click-clack of my soles on the pavement. The perfect sound to announce that the holidays will be here before we know it.

Summer of 69°

Photobucket

I'm still waiting for the weather to rise into the 80's to fully support summertime with shorts and spaghetti strapped tanks. Stepping into the shade brings a slight chill, but with the sun shining bright I couldn't resist pairing this rosette textured tank, petal appliqué sandals and fancy new headband. My cardigan's absence means progress in the right direction. I'm warning you June gloom, don't even think about it.

Sweet-Hearts

Photobucket
(Zara dress, heels and studded belt, rings from F21)

Yesterday, I found myself dressed head to toe in Zara. It's always the first store I stop in during a mall visit, and my arms are quickly engulfed with tons of fashionable options like flirty dresses, blouses, and an occasional strappy heel. Dwindling down the items in the fitting room is the hard part. It's a battle between all the things I want and what my bank account will allow, but I assume that's the story for most of us. I couldn't help but scoop up this dress with it's printed hearts and bow that give off an instant playful vibe.

What store is your first stop on a shopping trip?

The White Stripes

It's become routine to see nautical stripes trickle into stores come February and March for spring shipments (year round if you're shopping Ralph Lauren). Instantaneously classic, the stripes are hard not to associate with a red lip and bow, but I chose to downplay the shirt with gold accessories and a dark-washed boot-cut. Don't be surprised if you see it again paired with a khaki short and a splash of red or with a floral skirt to play into the mix-matched pattern trend.

White Picket Fences

Photobucket

Lately, the chilly weather has me resorting back to fall classics like belted cardigans, which is just fine by me. This particular sweater, I'd love to have in a rainbow of bright colors to contrast the feel of these cloudy, dreary days. For now, this bright blue will have to do as I wait for sunny days to return. What's your go-to piece for "off" weather days?

Bedroom Behavior

I'd like to revel in my honed organization skills, but my bedroom, more times than not, looks like a hamper spread across the floor. The time I put into picking an outfit clearly does not transition to cleaning up. Pulling together a look requires many options to choose from, and sometimes the rejects get left on the floor. Don't judge; it can be an exhausting process. Besides, the bedroom door can always stay closed.

Bursting Bubbles

April showers were nowhere in sight while I enjoyed some bubbles and my periwinkle spring dress. It's one of those pieces that I can dress up or dress down, and with the soft, delicate fabric it feels as if I'm wearing a nighttime slip. My only wish is that I had it in a rainbow of vibrant and playful colors.

Staring at the Sun

Photobucket
There are days that are gone in an instant, and others where the hours drag on and on. It's no surprise that the weekend never lasts as long as we want, and yesterday seemed to follow in that company. As the sun set, this trench was the perfect match for the cool, brisk air. I can't wait to pair it with a flowy dress and sandals for a future visit to a sidewalk cafe.
