Indoor S'mores

As my boyfriend plans an upcoming camping trip with his brother, the only thing that sounds appealing is the thought of making s'mores by a campfire. Lucky for me, my fondue pot serves as a more appealing option considering it means no bug spray, summer humidity and the whole sleeping in a tent thing. In addition to graham cracker and marshmallow dippers, crisp "pink lady" and "golden delicious" apple slices and whole strawberries were dunked into my blend of marshmallow fluff and chocolate sauce. My mind kept thinking of other items to dip, and I'm sure just about anything would taste great dipped into that mix.

Lacquer It On

A friend of mine seems to have a new shade of polish on her nails each time I see her, and her do-it-yourself manicures are nothing less than perfection. With a rainbow of colors out there, it's fun to see which shades make their debut on her fingertips. For me, that means making a mental note of the ones that catch my eye and imagining them mixed with a couple summer staples. Those time's when my polish matches my outfit exactly I take it as a pleasant coincidence, but what I love most is a bit of an unexpected contrast.

Floral Bouquet:
Essie Summer Collection paired with
the Forever 21 "blooming floral dress"
Waves of Sunshine:
Nars polish shades (in Adelita, Blue Lagoon,
Zizi and Cha Cha Cha)
& Delia's burnt orange swimsuit

Do you like matchy-matchy or a bit of the unexpected?

Hollywood Prom

For some of my favorite movies, there's always that specific scene that has me coming back again and again. In fact, I sometimes skip to the best part right away when I'm all alone and no one is around to judge my lack of patience. It should come as no surprise that a majority of the moments involve gorgeous gowns that encapsulate a range of stories, from a modern Cinderella's tale in opera-attending red to 80's teen angst in a pink creation all her own.

"I would have stayed for two thousand
"I would have paid four."
-Pretty Woman

"The story can resume. I will return.
Find you, love you, marry you and live without shame."

"True or False:
All's fair in love and war.
-How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

"If somebody doesn't believe in me,
I can't believe in them.
-Pretty in Pink

What character's dress would you love to try on?

Day for a Giveaway

Today, I'm happy to announce a giveaway from Penelope G, the Etsy shop and the sweet, self-taught designer behind the jewelry, both of the same name. As soon as I came across her pieces, I was instantly drawn to the necklaces and earrings with their individual dangling crystals and beads. Whether it's the gold or silver option, paired with a white tee and jeans or strapless cocktail dress, all her pieces are beautifully made and wrapped with love. Here's some picks that make my top 5, because I'm not sure I'd be able to narrow it down more than that.

So here's where the fun part comes in. The winner gets to choose what item they will receive out of her entire shop! Leave a comment explaining which item you have narrowed it down to and your email address by June 11th 8pm Pacific Time. For additional entries, you can twitter about the giveaway or mention it on your blog. Just make sure you leave me an additional comment explaining that you have done so.

Details of the giveaway go something like this...

2. This is for U.S and Canadian residents only.
3. Winner will be announced June 14th.

High Low

Upon finding this dress, I've worn it repeatedly for any occasion I can think of, from dinner dates to a simple night at the movies. As a creature of habit, I couldn't help but locate other flirty and floral options that I'd love just the same. In the amount they differ in price, they are strikingly similar in style even down to the print and front detailing. If you had to choose, which would you go for?
