Delicious and Nutricious

In an effort to eat healthier (goodbye sausage biscuits from Jack-in-the-Box and DonutInn...for now), I did a little research and came upon EatingWell, a helpful website with endless recipes that look delicious and nutritious. For me, it's not that I want to eat junk; It's the convenience of grabbing something quick. On the site, I compiled a list of recipes and here's one that made the cut.

If you can't tell by the great quality photo (sorry), it's an Orzo Pasta Salad with chickpeas and artichoke hearts, plus one of my faves, feta cheese. I added some french bread and it's been serving me great as a lunch the past few days.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

A Rainbow of Polish

I've got to say, I'm a bit excited about something, and that little "something" is the new shade on my nails. It's a new polish from Revlon by the name of Make Mine Mango. The shade makes me want to get a daiquiri and bathe in the sun. Also, my nails now give me the urge to eat Starbursts. Amazing what color association will do for you.

Revlon has also come out with a new collection for summer called Fruitful Temptations, with fruity scents when your nails are dry!

There's 8 shades to choose from. Let me know, what color is your favorite?

Let's Talk TV

So on last nights Jon & Kate Plus 8 season premiere I came to the realization that....
Photobucket

1. Kate has changed for the better.

In one scene, she couldn't stop laughing about the bugs all over the place. I had never seen her laugh that hard. I thought she was going to flip out and be all anal, like we are used to. I have to admit, I like her and respect her a lot more now. She's a strong woman, and I like that the show didn't depict her in her old way---as a knit-picking, high strung mother and wife. Should I start making my Team Kate shirt now or see how episode 2 goes?

2. Jon is too laid back.
Show some emotion man! If you are mad, disappointed, over the whole show, let us know that! No wonder the couple doesn't know where they stand, he has no communication skills and doesn't seem to want to help the situation. You can't improve something, if you aren't willing to work on it.

I remember watching this show from the beginning and thinking, "they are polar opposites, but they make it work." I'm not so sure they can anymore, although I am hoping for it. That hope and that curiosity is going to mean ratings gold for TLC....so congrats, you've got me hook, line, and sinker (along with 9.8 million other people last night).

You may have a winner with this one, but Cake Boss...seriously? That one is awful. Get the main dude an acting coach, cause it's too scripted for his skills-or lack thereof. Those editors have their hands full (of rotten clips).

Reminder: Tori and Dean premiers tonight :)

What are your thoughts? What shows are you loving right now?

Flowers to Remember

Hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day and taking some time, apart from the grilling and sunbathing, to truly reflect on the lives lost by those who fought for our freedom for so many years. In reflection of how this holiday started, which was originally called Decoration Day, I thought I'd share some of these...

Although the detail can't really be seen in this pic, they remind me of poppies which have a special meaning on this day.

And I couldn't forget some white and blue...

Tee's Have Never Looked So Good

Yesterday @ work, I had the pleasure of assisting the genuinely sweet family of Lauren Moshi, the artist behind the tees with the same name.

If you know anything about me, it's that I have this fascination with butterflies. I instantly fell in love with this particular piece.

If this one doesn't tickle your fancy, she's got tons more to choose from.

Check out the rest of her spring collection. Or check out Revolve Clothing, where I just discovered she also makes headbands.

Props To You America

Apparently, the rest of America agreed that the signature Adam Lambert squeal is in fact annoying as "H.. E.. double hockey sticks", proving that maybe America isn't as dumb as I thought they were.

All kidding and Adam jabs aside, it was a great show, and the two hours would have been even greater minus those awful group choreographed songs. Cheesy beyond words, but that's American Idol for ya.

Did your favorite take the win? Or are you excited that people will stop talking about it now that the season is done!?

This Look Can Dye

I saw this picture of Drew yesterday and could not believe my eyes. OUCH, I'm not sure anyone can pull this off...maybe a member of an 80's hair band.

Photobucket

If you want this look. You are crazy.

Here you go, if you dare. If you want the leggings, you might not want to pair them with a black glove, tie dye bandeau, see-through tee, retro aviators, and hideous shoes.

A day later, Drew decided to class it up a bit. Check out Fabi's post @ The Style Rules.

Not Your Grandma's HSN

So I've got to admit. I'm a fan of Tori Spelling. It happened after I started watching her reality show and read her book sTORI TELLING not during her 90210 days. Although, I do remember watching the late seasons several times secretly. My mom didn't approve of the content, which is understandable seeing as I was only four when it premiered.

So last night, I just happened to come upon HSN showing a collection for her jewelry line. Some of the pieces fell short of my personal style, but all of them are beautiful in their own right. Here's some of my faves.

This snake necklace also comes in a ring style.

I love how these pieces have a vintage flair, and the prices aren't too shabby either. Ring @ #39.95 and necklace @ $69.00.

Time for American Idol..kris KRIS KRIS!

Day Off Bliss

There's nothing better than a day off from work, and although I don't get Saturdays and Sundays off like most of you, Mondays and Wednesdays serve the purpose just fine. Although, I must admit, I'm really disappointed that I don't get to browse the LA area flea markets on Sundays....(reason #469 to put my two weeks in).

For my day off, the boyfriend and I ventured to Vitello's Express for a Greek salad fix, seriously I was craving one...BAD. Who craves salad?!

My boyfriend drove up and down Ventura Boulevard til we came upon a place that would have one. A+ for him.

We parked and noticed a frozen yogurt and candy store by the name of SweetHarts in the adjoining parking lot, and if i hadn't already gotten my frozen yogurt fix the night before I would have walked right on in. Besides, the Greek salad was calling my name.

It wasn't until Melissa Joan Hart walked right by our table that we made the connection that SweetHarts was hers.

On Saturday May 30th from 2-5,they are having their grand opening, which equates to a free frozen yogurt for all who attend. You should go!

I'll be working...story of my life.
