Book Smarts

I Love to Read

It was my initial plan to read more in 2010, but a little roadblock has come between me and my new year's resolution. I need suggestions for books! Walking into my neighborhood bookstore has gotten a bit overwhelming.

"Why, hello there thousands of books. How do you do?"
Let the awkward silence commence.

There's far too many to pick from, and I simply don't want to be disappointed once I do choose. So, please leave any suggestions of books you love. I will be so thankful...

  1. The Time Travelers Wife, The Lovely Bones (I know these have both been released as movies recently - but I read them a while ago and they really were great). Amerika (by Kafka), The Catcher in the Rye, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovitch, The Hours.

I feel a bit nervous suggesting books... in case you invest all that time into them and then don't like them. It's been a while since I have read these books... but I remember loving them at the time. Good luck! Would love to hear what you decide to start with! xx

  3. Emma and Ordinary People are favorites for "serious" books -- if you're looking for something a little lighter, anything by Sophie Kinsella or Meg Cabot's "Size 12 is Not Fat" books are absolutely hysterical!

  5. I'm with The Style Crusader: definitely recommend The Lovely Bones and Time Traveler's wife... read them years ago and they were fantastic. Water For Elephants is also a really great book. A little slow at first, but it left a lasting impression on me.
